Union Graduate College Master of Arts in Teaching

The Highest Education Standards

The master degree study programs at Union Graduate College's School of Education are aligned with the principles of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, the highest standard of accomplished teaching in schools.

Personal Assessment
Our graduate students learn how to reflect on and assess their own teaching methods. They create professional portfolios clearly articulating what they know and how they will apply it in a teaching classroom. Our students’ Professional Portfolios demonstrate how Union graduates work effectively with all types of students.

A Repertoire of Teaching Methods
By mastering a broad array of research-based teaching methods, new teachers have effective ways to employ with students with different learning styles.

Convenient Study
Most Master of Arts In Teaching classes are in the late afternoons and evenings, so students can continue teaching if they are already teachers, or teach in internships if they are just entering the field.

Comprehensive
Teaching students have full-time faculty advisors who oversee their program and assure that students have all the tools necessary to be effective. In addition to the education courses, students take additional courses in their certification area at Union Graduate College to improve their subject-matter teaching expertise.

Practical
Students gain hands-on experience as they apply what they learn at Union Graduate College directly to their own classrooms where they work as teaching interns.

Intimate
Students receive extensive personal guidance and attention from our faculty. Passionate about teaching, the faculty are extraordinarily supportive and accessible to their graduate students.

Global Perspective
The School of Education directly addresses the need for contemporary teachers to be attentive to the global, ethnic, cultural and linguistic perspectives of their students.

Networking
Because of Union Graduate School’s long-standing reputation in the educational community, many districts actively seek program graduates to join their faculty.

Accredited
Union Graduate College’s School of Education is the first university in New York State to be nationally accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC)
