E-waiver Review Process

Union Graduate College MBA students come from diverse academic backgrounds; including the liberal arts and sciences, engineering and business majors. It is not unusual for non-business majors to have taken calculus and statistics as part of their undergraduate degree and therefore have these core courses waived from the MBA program.
  • Students with a business undergraduate degree often waive enough core MBA courses to complete the MBA requirements in about 12 months.
  • Many non-business major students can complete the MBA requirements in about 15 months.
E-Waiver Review Form
Prospective students can submit their transcripts to Union Graduate College and have them evaluated by the UGC Waiver Committee for course waivers*. The Committee will respond via e-mail within a few days with a list of MBA courses that can be waive based on previous coursework and send you an individualized sample schedule. You’ll know how many courses will be waived, how long it will take to complete the MBA, and receive a sample schedule designed to meet your needs.

Please take a moment to complete the e-waiver review form.
Note: This process has no impact on the Admission Committee’s decision to admit or reject an application.

Our MBA students have the opportunity to study abroad for a full term or for a 2 week mini term. If you are interested in study abroad, please review the options below before completing the e-waiver form. This information will help us develop a sample schedule that incorporates the international study experience.

International Opportunities include:
  • Fall Term: IESEG School of Management at Lille Catholic University in Lille France. Take up to three courses that can be applied to UGC elective requirements
  • Fall Term: Jiao Tong University in Shanghai China, the Antai College of Management. Take up to three courses that can be applied to UGC elective requirements
  • Summer Mini-Term: University of Karlsruhe in Karlsruhe, Germany. The Hector School of Engineering and Management. An intensive summer two week session that allows students to take one MBA course that will meet the one elective requirement at UGC.
  • December 10-day mini term that meets one UGC elective requirement, the Shanghai Study Abroad with UGC Professor Mel Chudzik
*It generally takes two undergraduate courses to waive one graduate course. For example, a student who has taken Macro Economics and Micro Economics as an undergraduate (B- or above) will waive the core MBA Economics course, MBA 520.
